An historic Chilean family run vineyard & winery. Miguel Viu Manent worked as a wine merchant alongside his father and brother since the 1930s before venturing out on his own. In 1965 Miguel purchased this already historic vineyard, and his family still maintains control to this day, a rare thing in Chile. One of the best sites in the region, with pre-phylloxera vines from France.
Grapes: Malbec 85%, “secret grape” 15% (hence ‘Secreto’!)
Region: Valle de Colchagua, Chile
Good To Know: From the ‘El Olivar’ estate in Peralillo, certified Sustainable, 20 year old vines, destemmed, fermentation in stainless with native yeast, daily pumpovers, aged half in French oak, half in stainless / concrete, vegan
