This wine is a wonderful surprise. Firstly, it’s a 2015, so it’s in its prime tasting years. Secondly, we don’t see a lot of Slovenian wine imported to the PNW. It’s a gorgeous part of the world and produces some really stellar wines. The steep terraced slopes of the vineyard require great skill and care to farm – not for the faint of heart. And lastly, Merlot is still earning back it’s good name after the movie Sideways tarnished it in 2004. While it’s true a lot of Merlot is produced throughout the world, it is indeed a delicious and crowd-pleasing varietal, so why not make something people like?!
