Gönc Winery -- Grape Abduction Red

Gönc Winery in Slovenia is making some of the coolest minimal intervention wines out there. 4th generation Peter Gönc proudly proclaims that “I hate everything about wine.” Well, he used to anyway. I’m sure some of us can relate to growing up around something, rejecting it, and then finding our way back as young adults. 

This is a perfect chilled red to finish out the summer. Definitely don’t skip the fridge; the vibrancy of the fruit really comes alive when served chilled.

Grape: Blaufränkisch 100%

Region: Štajerska, Podravje, Slovenia

Farming: Organic, hand harvested, single vineyard, 300 ft elevation

Winery: Aged 7 months stainless, minimal intervention, vegan
