“Our diversity is our strength!” -- Jeff Vejr
I couldn’t agree more, Jeff. Owner/winemaker Jeff Vejr has truly begun something special in Oregon with the Golden Cluster projects, of which Vinous Obscura is one. With an obsession for old vines and creative blending, Jeff is blazing some fantastic trails in Oregon for us to enjoy.
Sagrantino has mysterious origins, but it’s believed to be indigenous to Umbria Italy, and was resurrected there in the 1970s. Tied with Tannat for having the thickest skins in the world, this varietal brings intense tannins and polyphenols.
Grapes: Sagrantino 100%
Region: Columbia Gorge, Oregon
Good to Know: Sustainable, dry farm, hand harvested, 19 days skin contact, ambient yeast ferment, aged in oak 12 months, unfined / unfiltered, vegan
