This winery has historic roots but the history they are most proud of is modern; they have been Organic since 1974 and were the first in the Veneto region to convert, or revert is more like it, since it was only for about half a century that commercial fertilizers and pesticides had even been in use. But humans forget history quickly, and the winery was left to its own devices on how to actually grow successful crops naturally. Organic agriculture isn’t just about the customer consuming something healthier (though that happens too!), but even more so it is about nurturing the soil and biodiversity in the vineyard so that the vines can maintain their natural defenses and all future generations can enjoy farming the same healthy land.
