Domaine Sigalas -- Assyrtiko
Domaine Sigalas -- Assyrtiko
“Sigalas is one of Greece’s finest white wine producers – in fact, a short list candidate for the best. This producer is universally acclaimed for his skill with Assyrtiko of all types. He is simply a master with this grape." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Well you can’t argue with Robert Parker… actually you can, but in this instance I wouldn’t! Sometimes our views do indeed align, and I am glad that this humble, indigenous Greek varietal has made its way to Parker’s desk. Paris Sigalas founded Sigalas in 1991. While he grew up in the vineyards, he later became a mathematician, whose passion for the indigenous varietals and ancient viticultural history of his home eventually called him back to take over the family vineyards. Everything Sigalas does is based on the fundamental principle of “dynamic evolution of tradition.”
