Domaine de la Pépière was founded in 1984 in Maisdon sur Sèvre, its name from the old French word pépie — thirst — a nod to the rocky soils and the locals’ joke that wine flowed more readily than water. Marc planted vineyards on granite hillsides, always farming by hand and keeping intervention in the cellar to a minimum. By 2007 the estate was fully organic and later biodynamic, relying on natural plant treatments and soil work to strengthen the vines. Gwénaëlle and Rémi now carry the torch, guiding the domaine with the same philosophy that quality begins in the vineyard.
Their La Pépie Côt (Malbec) flips the script on this grape — not inky or brooding like Argentina or Cahors, but light, juicy, and full of that unmistakable Loire spirit. Truly thirst quenching!
