Clairault Streicker acknowledges the Wadandi (Saltwater People) as the Traditional Owners of this land and we pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
With history dating back to the 1970s, Clairault Streicker wines are unmistakably Margaret River without becoming caricatures of “Big Australian Wine.” They are not chasing trends or trying to reinvent the wheel — they simply have access to excellent estate vineyard sites and know exactly what to do with them. What stands out most to me is their grower-first mindset: stewardship of the land, sustainability, old vines, and regional expression take precedence over celebrity winemaking and expensive oak programs, a refreshing change.
This is a fun wine for me to feature because I am always searching for wines that at first glance read as “big,” but, in the ways that really matter, still show restraint. Yes it’s Australia: inky, full-bodied, and packed with dark fruit, but it still retains fantastic acidity along with that classic eucalyptus note that never fails to brighten up a bbq.
