This wine represents a special project between one of my favorite importers, Vinea, and this wonderful hundred year old co-op in Emilia-Romagna Italy. They created this special label just for the Seattle market, and I chuckle every time I see it. The wine is called 'Brusco, because the lamb is on the label... HA! Lam-brusco. Is that Mineralista's first dad joke?
The co-op was founded by 49 local farmers in 1920, and continues on to this day having grown to a size of 380 different families. Their main thing is indeed Lambrusco, the genre-defying style of chilled sparkling red wine that only this region is known for. Styles range from dry to sweet, but true to Mineralista form, this one is very dry. You know I'd never spring a sweet red on you!
Grapes: 100% Lambrusco Grasparossa
Region: Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Good to Know: Organic, southern foothills of Modena, soft-press, traditional maceration, cold ferment, 2nd ferment Charmat method
