A relatively new (if the 1980s is considered recent!) and under the radar winery in Beaujolais, Domaine de Roche Noire is part of the Balvay Père et Fils family operation. In 1986 they formalized their property as an EARL (family-owned farm) and have been making excellent Cru Beaujolais within strict HVE regulations.
Since the Winter Release arrives in February, why not lean into a few Valentine’s Day puns, in addition to excellent and seasonally appropriate juice? Saint-Amour is one of the ten Beaujolais crus and, as its name suggests, is known for a lighter, more perfumed -- and feminine, if you will -- style of Beaujolais. So let’s all get in touch with our feminine side this Valentine’s Day, with a glass of Saint-Amour.
Grapes: Gamay Noir 100%
Region: Saint Amour, Beaujolais, France
Good To Know: HVE Certified Sustainable, carbonic maceration, aged in stainless
