Clos Henri -- Sauvignon Blanc 'Clay'
Clos Henri -- Sauvignon Blanc 'Clay'
Clos Henri traces its history back to the Borgeois family, long famous in Sancerre, France (one of the best places for Sauv Blanc in the world). When the Bourgeois brothers inherited the estate in the late 1980s, they had a mind to take their family know-how to new lands. More than a decade later they settled on, and in, Marlborough New Zealand. With soil types forged over millennia so similar to their home in Sancerre, they knew this would be the place to lay new roots. Speaking of roots, in addition to Organic viticulture and dry farming, their other secret is high density plantings, which force the vines to compete and grow ever-deeper into the Earth in search of nutrients, which in turn amp up the minerality and complexity in their wines. This is not your average New Zealand juice!
